We would say that there were no great sensations during this round. Anish Giri from Netherlands made a draw with some difficulty against first seed Ukrainian GM Vassily Ivanchuk, but 17 years old-Giri had already proved his top class during the last 2 years.
Leinier Dominguez from Cuba beat third-seeded Vugar Gashimov from Azerbajdzan. Ok, Leinier was a blitz World champion so he is feeling comfortable playing against any of the world's strongest players.
